August 23, 2007. Yesterday, MediaTakeOut.com reported to you that televangelist Juanita Bynum, who has gained a national following with her sermons about women’s empowerment, was viciously beaten by her preacher husband in the parking lot of an Atlanta hotel.
According to police, Bynum and her estranged husband, Thomas W. Weeks III (the founder of Global Destiny churches) were supposed to have met at Renaissance Concourse Hotel near Atlanta’s airport to try to reconcile.
But at about 4 a.m. things went wrong. The couple began viciously fighting in the parking lot – with Pastor Weeks getting the upper hand. And the fight became so vicious, tells an officer, that a hotel bellman had to “pulled Pastor Weeks off of Ms. Bynum.”
After the fight, the same officer claims Juanita was “bruised up and battered” with “purple bruising around her neck and upper torso.”
As of last night, no charges had been filed against Pastor Weeks, who fled the scene before police arrived.
And while it’s not entirely clear what the couple was fighting about. Some people close to Juanita have reached out to MediaTakeOut.com with their own theories. The insiders all claim that Juanita was upset with her husband’s uncomfortably close relationships with a few men in his church.
Bynum, a former homemaker, hairdresser and flight attendant got a break when Bishop T.D. Jakes invited her to speak at one of his conferences several years ago. Her ministry blossomed further after her “No More Sheets” sermon on breaking free of sexual promiscuity at a singles event.
Juanita and her husband were married in 2002 in a televised ceremony that cost more than $1M and was viewed by millions.

It is important for women to know our men must be holy people; our ministers must be holy and submissive to the will of God and lastly, when a woman suspects “questionable relationships” of her spouse, her boyfriend or someone close, it is because a woman has intuitive alerts which cause her to question certain behaviors. Some men in the ministry have obvious tendencies towards males and we all know who they are, but when it is your husband, a woman must know the truth. In this day and age of STD’s; women must do what is healthy and correct.
In the name of Jesus, Bishop Meeks, must provide a justification for his actions and disspell or confirm Juanita’s suspicions to continue as a holy man of God. it is sad, but true.

my prayers are with the woman of God, at this most trying time. As a woman, I truely beleive that if Hillary Clinton can recover after what her husband the President of the United States (ex) Bill Clinton did. And not only recover on top, But now in the election to be First Woman President of the United States Of America, and I’ve never openly heard her discuss her faith, then my God what will the Lord release out of this situration, concerning the Body of Christ. Their is a nation of people hurting from these types of issues, that maybe had no way to bring it to the surface,now there is a open door. It is really a sin and a shame if bishop weeks has been having extramaritial affairs with select men in the church. Judgement will begin in the house of god. Weeks you were wrong to touch God’s annionted, he says do my prophet no harm, My sister did not deserve this, If you knew you would not be able to love her and only her you should not have let her fall in love with you,and definitely not marry you. She has been hurt by so many men so many times before but you bishop have filled the latest chapter of her life,”JB brutually beaten by her estranged husband. How did you position yourself to hit a women of God,explain that to me,I’m sure not only do I want to know but the millions that love her and know that God has called her. I am not sure what everyone else read about the report, however, I believe it said they were both viciously fighting. I really did not follow thier ministry that closely however I have a lot of women friends that did, here is my advice to them, you gotta know that you know that you know you are a child of the king. Everyone must work out thier own salvation with fear and tremble. Keep you head high and know that Jesus still sit on the right hand side of his father and that all of our good work are like fithly rags. Lastly, I heard an old preacher say; We all are just another week link in the chain. Remember before you judge or throw stones. We all have fallen short of the glory of God and without the saving grace of Jesus the son of the living God, we all are just sinner. Keep your faith.

They were both viciously fighting??? Those are the words of the media! Week’s III was violently assaulting her; she was trying to survive the attack – you ever her of self defense? . During Week’s III arraignment it was revealed that once he knocked her to the ground he was brutally stompiing her between her legs and shouting, ” I’m going to kill you B***!” Whatever the reason or provocation, he did attack her and her life was in danger…But God!
There was a “But God” in my life too.

Aren’t you suppose to have your own house in order before trying to tell someone what to do in thiers.I think she jixed herself with that over the top wedding,with money that could have been donated to some of the people sending in money they don’t have to these ministries.Did anyone notice that over the Easter weekend,TBN had a telethon to raise money. Duh. People should quit blindly following false prophets.Get your Bible and read it yourself, then GOD will give you the wisdom you need to ascertain whether someone is truely GOD sent or not.

WHAT WE AS CHRISTIANS NEED TO DO IS PRAY FOR JUANITA AND THE BISHOP AND NOT JUDGE THE SITUATION. THE WORLD CAN DO THAT ALL BY THEMSELVES. THE WORD REMINDS US THAT LOVE COVERS A MULTITUDE OF SINS. BEING A BISHOP DOES NOT EXEMPT YOU FROM FALLING SHORT. ALL HAVE SINNED AND COME SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD. SO LETS BE QUICK TO PRAY AND NOT JUDGE, CONDEMN AND GOSSIP!!

While there is never a legitimate justification for touching a women, there are a plethora of reasons why women bring harm to themselves, especially women of God. First of all, his problem with her was her relationships with men in his church. if you have never dealt with infidelity, then you have no clue as to how emotionally charged this situation can be. We simply cannot 100% say what we would do in these types of situations. secondly, just because we are public successes does not mean we are not private failures. Our gift does not define who we really are. The gift comes from God and does not need our help, but character can only be developed by the permission of the person. Our gift is not our personality, it is God’s and people are so quick to equate a person’s gifting and anointing with their personality and nothing could be further from the truth. We have no idea the kind of woman Juanita is behind closed doors, but one thing is for sure; in today’s society, the more a woman stands up outside her home, the harder it is for her to sit down inside her home and that’s a fact. Juanita literally has millions of women worshiping her. TBN has made her an idol. Many Pastor’s know of Juanita’s character flaws, yet choose to put her up because simply, she can raise a hell of an offering. Like it or not, it is the truth. Do you think Juanita leaves that much attention and authority and comes home to a humble Bishop and submits to him. I think not. Bishop Weeks is the victim here as perverted as it sounds. He was seduced by her aura, following, money, attention and bragging rights, not realizing the price he would have to pay of having two heads in his house. Unfortunately, we witnessed these two heads that became a monster dook it out outside an Atlanta hotel. Let’s stay free of speculation and watch the truth unfold in prayer.

Pastor Moore, you sound very sexist or gay yourself. Don’t make assumptions that the lady could not be submissive to her humble husband because that is all speculation and like you said “Let’s stay free of speculation.” You do not know if she was submissive or not and you do not know if he was humble or not. To jump to the conclusion that he was the victim is just ignorant. The bible does tell you a fool answers a matter before he heareth it — translated– hear both sides of the story before you determine who is the victim.

The entire situation is sad. Whatever the reasons it is sad that cooler heads could not prevail. Having found myself in similar volatile situations, I can give a good guess as to Juanita Bynum’s frame of mind. Regardless of her state of mind, it is always better to walk away, get a glass of wine (I know it doesn’t sound holy but it takes the edge off). JB you cannot change anyone, people are who they are. Even though you do not want to have a second failed marriage, better a failed marriage than a failed ministry and another blackeye to the gospel. Nobody likes divorce but in comparison to staying and suffering or killing him, divorce sounds like the best idea.

God is God, he will get the glory. It may be hard for us to see how at this time but he will get the glory. I believe God can fix any and every situation but one person has to step back and allow him to. That is going to happen in short order. We can feel free to speculate to occupy our time but there is his side, her side and the truth. We all see our situation with “self colored” glasses. We think we were a little wrong and the other person was alot wrong but the truth be told, we know how to push each other’s buttons so most likely they were equally responsible (for the outcome at least). Whoever perpetrated the initial sin or caused the initial problem has to be honest with him or herself, honest with God and honest with the other spouse. Again, that will happen in short order so that this matter can be brought to a conclusion, because as I said before, God has to get the glory.

You were called to be the wife of God and to talk of the love of God but instead you married a fallen man and you talked of the love between you and him. Do away with such foolish talking which has defiled your wedding garment, put away all fleshly lust and wash in the Blood of Jesus to be clean again.
God is jealous for you and He has caused even this beating to work together for your good. Now that this has happened, go and tell of God’s love even more and seek not the love of a moral man but the love of God, for there can be only One Head over you, since the Lord Himself has annointed you to be His holy prophetess to the world.

The incident is very sad; yet i found the comments of many to be mad. ” My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge” Hosea 4:6…..I heard justification,excuses and much spiritual illiteracy…concerning the mind and the will of God.

I love Prophetess Bynum and respect her husband’s life and ministry as well. However, we are all human and have the tendency to fail at times. Whatever is true about the circumstances, the enemy got in and had his way. Also the element of the sin that was caused as they were drawn enticed by their own lusts cannot be ignored. Like the Bible says “He that is without sin cast the first stone”. NO ONE can judge their situation. Only God knows the whole truth. Even reading of this is hearsay. So we must just pray for them and not judge.
All the love of God that I can hold in my heart goes out to them and their situation. I pray that God get the glory and they both be at peace with the situation.

He did this, she did that! Who cares! Pray for these people because they are ORDINARY PEOPLE! Let this situation be a lesson to all. Stop putting man upon a pedestal because man will let you down! Jb and TW are nothing more than teachers and we all should get a lesson from this situation and not pass judgment that’s our Heavenly Fathers job so remember if you judge then you will be judged!
